Mantis was founded by Richard Marks, who was born and raised in Plainfield, NJ. He gave up a career in teaching, as he decided there were other ways of helping our community that better suited him. He loved driving and the freedom of being in a different atmosphere with every pest control job he endeavored. At the beginning of his career, it was him in the field and his Mother in the office, handling the day-to-day administrative tasks. In 2011, Thomas Pavlou, born and raised in North Plainfield, started working for Mantis Pest Control. After only 6 months of employment, he took a large role in the day-to-day operations alongside Rich. He developed a friendship with Richard and agreed to be the successor when Richard was ready to retire. Ironically, nearly 50 years since the inception of Mantis Pest Control, Tom is now out in the field with a team of technicians, and his Mother is now in the office handling the administrative work.
For more than 45 years, we have served Somerset County and the surrounding areas. We have retained many of our original customers while we continue to build new relationships, adding new clients to our list. Our team uses only the most effective treatment practices to ensure all homes and commercial spaces are pest-free.
